Is reflexology right for you?
If you are new to reflexology, the following information is intended to give you an introduction to how reflexology can help with a wide range of health problems and conditions. It is worthwhile remembering that reflexologists are not allowed to diagnose, nor can they claim to cure, but many find that reflexology is the perfect answer for them. Usually people come to reflexology because they have a health problem they want to tackle. If you identify with any of the following situations/statements then reflexology is for you:
Do you have a health concern or problem? For example do you find yourself suffering from sore shoulders, do you have digestion problems, does your back hurt all the time?
Would you like to find a way to maintain your health and prevent problems? Would you like to reduce stress and tension now to help prevent stress related problems?
Are you worried about stress? Do you often feel stressed at home/work and are you looking for ways to reduce your stress levels to help you cope?
Are your feet tired? Do you have to stand for long hours at work?
Do you need to relax and ease your tired feet and perhaps also address problems such as back ache that you may experience if your work involves a lot of standing up?- Do you like to take care of yourself? Would you like to improve your general wellbeing?
- Do you need a pick me up? Do you find yourself thinking you know you are burning the candle at both ends but you still have things to do and have to carry on?
How reflexology can help your health
Reflexology has so many health benefits, but here are just a few:
Reflexology is a balancing treatment that stimulates the body's own natural healing processes.
Reflexology improves blood circulation helping oxygen and nutrients reach your organs to help them work more efficiently.
Reflexology boosts the lymphatic system and boosts the immune system.
Reflexology stimulates the release of endorphins - the body's natural pain killer bringing much needed pain relief to many.
Reflexology has a balancing effect on the endocrine system and can therefore assist with many hormonal related problems such PMS or fertility.
Reflexology improves your sense of wellbeing - clients often feel 'brighter' and more positive after reflexology, again this is due to the release of endorphins.
Reflexology balances the nervous system.
Reflexology helps you to relax - when you are relaxed your body is able to divert its resources and energy to healing.
Reflexology helps the body's systems of elimination work effectively - it improves blood flow to the kidneys and liver, helping you to eliminate toxins.
Whilst reflexology is not intended as a replacement for conventional medicine, it does work extremely effectively alongside it. Reflexology offers help in a drug-free, non-invasive way and is becoming more and more popular.
A lot of conditions respond well to reflexology, and over the coming months we will be adding fact sheets discussing specific health conditions. We hope you will find the information useful and that you will find some suggestions that help to bring you some relief.
